Catherine Losing.

Do you like still-life photography? This week, we talked to one of its specialists featured on TCD, Catherine Losing, who just came back from the opening of a group exhibition in Amsterdam. Catherine, who’s based in London, has notably worked with The Independent, It’s Nice That, The Times, The British Fashion Council and The Guardian, and has many interesting projects going on right now. A good reason to interview her, isn’t it?

TCD: What made you want to become a photographer?

CL: I found out that a camera can be an access all areas pass to see new and exciting things. Getting backstage at amazing gigs, free trips, seeing exclusive designer collections, millions of pounds of incredible jewellery and working with exciting artists and stylists.

TCD: If you could make a list of your favourite contemporary photographers, who would you pick?

CL: Thomas Demand, Frank Hulsbomer and Carl Kleiner.

TCD: If you were to tag yourself on TCD, what 3 words would you use?

CL: Still Life, Hair, Doncaster.

TCD: So what exciting projects are you working on right now?

CL: I’ve just arrived back from the opening of a group exhibition at the Witteveen Visual Arts Centre in Amsterdam. I was so flattered that they invited me to contribute, all the photographers involved are amazing. I’m also in the midst of projects with Clerkenwell Design Week, Esthetica Magazine – in association with the British Fashion Council and The Independent on Sunday’s Fashion Special. All of which I’m itching to get on my website!

TCD: What would be your dream commission?

CL: Louboutin shoes, pineapples and silly string for POP.

TCD: Go on, tell us a secret?

CL: I’m completely terrified of Ronald McDonald.
