As TCD gets more and more busy with a lot of exciting projects for the new year, we are really glad to welcome a new member of the team today. Emma, who’s done quite a lot of work for titles such as Notion and Rêver Magazine, brought in all her knowledge and passion for the creative world; we’re sure she’ll be really helpful as our new Editorial intern. Welcome, Emma!
TCD: Where do you come from?
EH: I was born in Paris and lived there till I was seven, when I moved to Oxford. I spent three years in Leeds at university and now I’m based in London.
TCD: What’s the first search you did on TCD?
EH: I looked up ‘fantasy’ photographers and yes! I got Tim Walker, one of my favourite photographers.
TCD: If you could make a list of your favourite contemporary photographers, who would you pick?
EH: That’s a hard one as I’m constantly finding new photographers whilst searching for things on the Internet. At the moment, new photographers whose work I’ve recently fallen in love with are Wai Lin Tse, Letty Schmiterlow and Lukasz Wierzbowski. But my old school favourite is Juergen Teller (whose exhibition I can’t wait to see at ICA at the end of this month!).
TCD: If you were to tag yourself on TCD, what words would you use?
EH: ‘Black and white’ (see: my clothes), interior (my obsession with decorating and trinkets), ‘eyebrows’ (see: my face) and hopefully ‘youthful’- for now!
TCD: Go on, tell us a secret?
EH: The one thing I didn’t manage to move with me to London (and is therefore still using up space in my mother’s house) was my collection of magazines. There must be at least 150 magazines I left behind that I have been buying – and unconsciously collecting – since I was 15. For me, good magazines are like books and I love looking at them again and using them as a source of inspiration.
