We got very excited when we watched the trailer for the next Gondry film, Mood Indigo – “L’écume des jours” in French. Adapted from the homonym book by Boris Vian, the romance is mainly played by the delicate Audrey Tautou and very talented Romain Duris. Here’s the pitch: “A woman suffers from an unusual illness caused by a flower growing in her lungs”*. What we’re obviously expecting from Michel Gondry, who’s notably directed Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and The Science of Sleep, is poetry, sensibility and fantasy.

Fantasy is the word we’ve consequently chosen this week: we’ve decided to throw all this fake St. Valentin romanticism away in order to embark on a much more ethereal and inventive journey. Some photographers and newly added illustrators inspired all our team by providing us with beautiful fanciful imagery. Of course, we had to include one of Tim Walker’s photographs in our selection! Everyone needs a bit of daydreaming in order to escape a sometimes harsh reality: typing “fantasy” into the TCD search bar will do just that for you.

Mood Indigo, directed by Michel Gondry; release date in the U.K. not confirmed yet.
