Amy Bannerman began her career by assisting Bay Garnett (one of our TCD Contributors) and Katy England. The stylist, who’s worked with Levi’s, Arcadia, Sony and ELLE UK among others, is also currently involved in an exciting consulting project for the fashion label Thu Thu. Between two photo shoots, Amy answered our questions.
TCD: What made you want to become a stylist?
AB: An obsession with clothes, and how happy they can make you. Also I’m sure I was quite dazzled by my Mum’s fashion extravaganzas in the 80s.
TCD: If you could make a list of your favourite contemporary stylists, who would you pick?
AB: Camille Bidault-Waddington, Francesca Burns, Emmanuelle Alt, Clare Richardson and Jane Howe.
TCD: If you were to tag yourself on TCD, what 3 words would you use?
AB: Hmm that’s a difficult question! ‘Blonde’, ‘happy’ and ‘busy’.
TCD: So what exciting projects are you working on right now?
AB: I am consulting for Thu Thu which has been very involving, and very exciting. Thuy Duong Nguyen is a great designer. I have some editorials in the pipeline with some great publications and I am also hoping to start a business with my boyfriend this year.
TCD: What would be your dream commission?
AB: Probably to style a denim story for Paris Vogue. Or anything for Self Service. I would also love to shoot something for Teen Vogue.
TCD: Go on, tell us a secret?
AB: I have a phobia of red shoes, it’s connected to my first day of school but I still can’t bring myself to wear them.
