Pick Me Up 2013 at Somerset House.
'Doddle-Bombing' by Hattie Stewart.
Drawings by Stuart Patience.
'Kama Sutra A-Z' by Malika Favre.
Tirelessly turning books and magazines pages, passionately exploring websites and blogs… Each member of the TCD team is constantly on the look-out for more talents to include on the website. We recently launched our Illustration section, and thus happily came by the Graphic Arts festival ‘Pick Me Up’ at Somerset House in order to (re)discover up-and-coming illustrators and graphic designers. The exhibition has an undeniable fresh touch, as only artists who have graduated or set up their studios within the last 7 years are showing their work. From the ‘Doddle-Bombing’ by Hattie Stewart, who drew over the covers of influential fashion publications such as Vogue and i-D, to the imaginative, highly detailed black and white drawings by Stuart Patience and the graphic and sensual ‘Kama Sutra A-Z’ alphabet by Malika Favre, we found here and there a constantly renewed and eclectic expression of creativity. Of course, we also enjoyed using the face stamps of the little workshop upstairs curated by creative agency Human After All; Supermundane, who did our current TCD Cover, contributed to creating some of the stamps you can play with. So, what are you waiting for to live your own “ink-teractive illustration experience”?
