This week, we’re very happy to welcome a new Editorial intern. Abbie, who studied Media and Communications at Goldsmiths, University of London, notably worked at JolieBox UK (now Birchbox UK) and Notion Magazine. Passionate about visual arts and fashion industries, Abbie also co-founded NeverLazy Magazine. Her great curiosity about anything related to creativity as well as her precious attention to detail instantly made us recognise a potentially great addition to the TCD Team. Welcome, Abbie!
TCD: Where do you come from?
AC: I’m based in London but, with my French and Malaysian-Chinese roots, I actually come from a mixture of places and cultures.
TCD: What’s the first search you did on TCD?
AC: If my memory serves me well, the first Creative I looked up on TCD was Qiu Yang.
TCD: If you could make a list of your favourite contemporary photographers and illustrators, who would you pick?
AC: Nature is a big source of inspiration to me so I enjoy the works of landscape photographers like Cody Cobb, Myoung Ho Lee and Hengki Koentjoro. Being a painter, I also admire Agnes Cecile’s watercolour illustrations and the portrait paintings of Michael Shapcott. I’m compelled by raw and undiscovered talent, because their fresh approaches constantly remind me of why I love visual art – Nina Ahn, for example, photographs light beautifully.
TCD: If you were to tag yourself on TCD, what words would you use?
AC: My head is always up in the clouds so I would probably tag myself with the word #daydreamer. Unfortunately, I’m also one of many #crazyperfectionist writers.
TCD: Go on, tell us a secret?
AC: I always thought I would be an illustrator, before I eventually decided to study communications and writing at university.
